AZ TRACTOR-TRAILER MELT

5 week program

MELT stands for Mandatory –Entry-Level-Training for all AZ licence aspirants. We offer approved MELT program for students looking to start their career as a commercial truck driver. This five-week course is focused on safety and in-depth knowledge of driving trucks. This program is divided in to three main parts

  • Classroom: 36.50 Hours
  • In-Yard (Around the vehicle): 17 Hours (vehicle not moving, e.g. vehicle inspections)
  • In-Cab (behind the wheel): 50 hours (32 on-road + 18 off-road like backing, coupling/uncoupling)

Admission Requirements:

  1. 1. Valid Ontario Class-G Licence or Higher
  2. 2. MTO Class-A Written Exam
  3. 3. Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent
  4. 4. Air Brakes Z Endorsement

AIR BRAKE Z ENDORSEMENT

2 days class

In Ontario, almost all heavy-duty large vehicles are equipped with an Air Brake System. Unlike hydraulic brake vehicles, you must have an Air Brake Z Endorsement on your driver’s licence. We offer MTO Approved 2-Day Air Brake Endorsement Course at our office on every weekend.

(This program does not require approval under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005)

Requirements:

You must have valid Ontario’s G Licence or higher.

Course Curriculum:
Day-1: 6-Hours Class

  1. 1. Introduction to Air Brakes
  2. 2. The Supply Sub-System
  3. 3. The Service Brake Sub-System
  4. 4. The Spring/Parking Brake Sub-System
  5. 5. Trailer Brake Sub-Systems
  6. 6. Foundation Brake Systems

Day-2: 6-Hours Class + Written Exam + Practical Test

  4. 4. Functional Checks of the Air Brake System
  5. 5. Inspecting Air Brake Adjustment

CLASS-D LICENCE TRAINING

2 week training

Class-D Licence holders can operate a motor vehicle exceeding 11,000 kilograms gross weight or registered gross weight or any truck or combination provided the towed vehicle is not over 4,600 kilograms.

Anyone with Class DZ can drive:

  1. 1. Straight Trucks
  2. 2. Dump Trucks
  3. 3. Rescue Trucks
  4. 4. Fire Trucks
  5. 5. Garbage Trucks
  6. 6. Cement Trucks

Requirements:

  3. 3. Written-D Exam
